4 days of tournament.
4 different courses.
273 competitors.
I knew I was up against some serious competition when I entered the 2023 Copthorne Bay of Islands 4 Golf Course Classic tournament in New Zealand. With 273 players, many with decades more experience than me, I was just hoping to test my focus and consistency over the four-day tournament.
But something magical happened.
Despite the odds, I finished with the overall best score for both men and women divisions, in both strokes and Stableford. I also beat the next runner up by 5 strokes.
It is definitely a highlight of my amateur golfing career 😇 and I couldn’t have done it without my amazing coach and physio who helped me prepare for the long days of competition.
I also want to give a shoutout to my family, golf friends, the tournament organizers, and our generous sponsors, including PGA NZ, for all the prizes. 🥰
Winning this tournament was a team effort, and I am so grateful for everyone who supported me along the way.
“Coming to NZ with 3 balls and leaving NZ after 6 games with the same 3 balls”
And who knows what the future holds? As I head home with the same three balls I came with (despite playing six games!), I am excited to see what else I can achieve in the world of golf. The best may be yet to come.
This tournament taught me that with hard work, determination, and a little bit of luck 😉 anything is possible.
